Perfectly Imperfect 💯

Learning To Love All Of You

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139:13-14)
More and more, I see this new trend of posts and videos of people living the “perfect life” and thousands of followers straggling behind them in an attempt to do the same.
Well, I am here to burst your bubble…There is no “perfect” life. 🤷🏾‍♀️

When we strive to live this so-called perfect life, we are putting unnecessary pressures on ourselves to also live up to a standard that does not truly exist; therefore, we never reach it.

Perfection is a state or condition in which you (or your life) are free from all flaws or defects. It creates the notion that you are faultless.

Why is this a challenge?
Because when we create this image that we must strive to live to meet a standard where we are without a single flaw, then what happens when we actually make a mistake? What happens when something happens to us? I’ll tell you.  You get sucked into this black hole called depression and despair, and it takes something short of a miracle to pull you out.

Listen, nowadays, with access to the lives of so many people, we are either watching from a distance, or you are on the other side trying to reach people by having them gain a glimpse of your life. Big deal, right? This just brings us closer together, right?

You would think so if we were actually being our real and authentic selves. Or even for those were are being their authentic selves, we need to understand that we are not getting full access to their lives. We only get what they want us to see for the time they want us to see it.  What happens when the cameras go off or when the phones shut down? What’s really happening behind the scenes?

Truth…this is where the realest of the real surfaces, and we are completely blind to it. Yet, we were left with the image we saw and striving to imitate it.  This has to stop.
This whole chasing a dream that does not exist and doing more harm than good…yeah…it has to stop.

I am not telling you that you cannot have a dream life.  What I am saying is to redefine what the dream life is and who you are so you can actually live it.
Your dream life is the life and plans God has for you and you alone.  The person who is meant to live it is the uniquely and wonderfully made person reading this today.

We must learn to accept ourselves the way God created us. We must learn to love ourselves the way God, our Creator loves us…flaws and all.
Now, I know what you are thinking…”You mean, you do not have to be perfect for God? ” ” What?!” ” No way! “
Yes, way!  It’s totally true

See, in His eyes, you are already perfect because he made you.  Like folk use to say…”Honey, God don’t make no junk.”  And you ain’t no junk.

Look, learn to love who you are.  Take time to get to know you…every part of you because it’s all of you that God can and will use.
He can use all the great things you do and even all of your mistakes.

We were not created to be clones. We all have our own unique qualities and features. The most beautiful part is that when we come together collectively, it’s like putting a million puzzle pieces together to create  the most majestic masterpiece ever made.  Wow…now take that in for a moment.

Today, take a new look at yourself and admire yourself with a fresh set of eyes. Take a moment to admire your “imperfections.”  Embrace them and open yourself up to a whole new way of Loving your self…All of you.

Why Embrace Your Imperfections

We all have imperfections. Don't deny them. Embrace Them. There is a lot of pressure in society today to be a perfect person. Unfortunately, this race to fit in leads to more feelings of failure or self-hatred. Learn to love yourself, embracing your imperfections. Embracing your imperfections can deliver unexpected benefits of helping you live the life you have been dreaming of.

Your Positive Imperfections

When you start to embrace your imperfections, you’ll start to see them more positively. Believe it or not, there are some positives to imperfections. For example, if you suffer from anxiety, you may beat yourself up for not being able to do certain things that come easily to others. However, a positive of anxiety is that it often makes you more empathetic. That is a great trait to have in an often-cruel world.

Flaws are also considered more attractive than you might realize. So, start to look for the positives in your flaws and realize that everyone has them.

Feel Free

When you are so caught up in your imperfections, it can make you feel trapped under constant pressure. By embracing them, it helps to set you free. Nothing is more freeing than living without the constant weight of your expectations. Once you accept your flaws, you’ll feel like a weight has been lifted.

Focus on Who You Are

Being so focused on your imperfections can stop you from being who you truly are. It causes you to chase an ideal that you aren’t ever going to live up to. However, when you let go of your imperfections, your authentic self will start to shine through.

So, if you feel like you have lost who you wanted to be, start letting go of your need to be perfect.

Living Healthier

Living your life constantly focused on your imperfections isn’t healthy. It impacts your perspective on things, causing you to make choices you wouldn’t necessarily make if you weren’t so caught up in your flaws.

Constantly stressing over the things that you are not can actually have a negative impact on your health. So, if you want to improve your overall health and well-being, you’ll want to start embracing your imperfections.
