“When you know the truth, you will not be easily offended”
I can recall the countless times, I have been around people who have said or done things then wondered if I was offended by their actions or words. I would always respond, “Why would I be offended?” or “There is not much that will offend me.” These responses would be met with surprise. What they did not understand was that I have been around different people all of my life.
Everyone always has a different viewpoint and different background which causes them to believe what they believe or drive their actions.
I understood that just because we see the world differently does not justify me to walk around being offended by every or anything they say and do. What I can control are my actions, my responses. I choose to walk in what I believe is the truth. The Truth, allows me to see beyond the individual in front of me blaring out sometimes senseless remarks or making outrageous actions.
I can choose to meet them with a response that may shock them sometimes resulting in a deeper conversation. I choose not to allow what I know to be untrue to disrupt or ruin my day or my life.
Perhaps my actions will cause them to rethink their position or perhaps not. Either way, I can walk around with my head still held high, knowing I am taking a higher road rather than allowing the spirit of offense to take over.
I know the truth about who I am and my life. I know the truth because I spent time learning to see and understand the world through the eyes of God. His word guides my life, my vision, my purpose, and how I develop myself, therefore how I interact with others.
When I know who He is then I better understand who I am and no one or nothing can change that. What He says is true, so the opinion of others hold less weight. I am confident in who I am and where I am heading because my foundation is His Word. As my feet are planted on the rock, in the Truth, I shall not be moved by the spirit of offense.
As you walk through your day, you may encounter those who have their opinion of you, an opinion of your life, where you are heading, and even the people around you. Before you get offended, ask yourself, “Am I walking in the Truth?” If you know this to be true, then do not be moved by the spirit of offense. Do not allow those who are unable to see the Truth to disrupt your day, your life, and your walk. Instead, continue to move…move on in confidence with your head held high and your eyes set on the Lord.
Jesus met many during His walk on this earth that attacked and tried to offend Him. He stood firm on the Words of His Father, knowing who He was and why He was sent. He used wisdom as He encountered such situations, therefore never allowing the opposition to take Him off course.
We can always look to Christ as we continue to move forward in our journeys. Remember, He has walked this path and knows first hand what it takes to endure the trials we will face. He is watching over us, and continually interceding to The Father on our behalf because HE KNOWS and UNDERSTANDS. We are never alone on this journey…continue to look to the Heavens, over those who stand before you to knock you off course. With your eyes to Him, He will show you The Way ahead…The Way Ahead, with Him and the promises that lie before you.
Stay focused! Do not be easily offended. Walk in truth, and take security in who you are.
